Cynthia van de Loo developed creative skills at a young age from parents who were both artists. She has a background in television & documentary production, with three years training from Diage Multimedia, mean while pursuing studies in photography and art through Canterbury University and with individual artist mentors. She then moved into working full time as a professional photographer and as a contemporary fine artist. Since 1999 she has exhibited in 14 solo shows and 7 group shows throughout New Zealand, as well as 'l'art est vivant' in New Caledonia. More recently she has been acquiring skills in cast-glass making at the School of Art and Design, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology. Much of her experience has come through self teaching, experimenting with different mediums and learning through books, the internet and other artists.

In photography she has gathered experience through tuition to an advanced level and has worked in the dark room on monochrome - slide sandwiching - multi exposures and transferring images on different mediums. Much of her photography is sold as Gicle's on canvas.

She studied studio lighting with Richard Poole one to one, learning portraiture and also worked with Mike Langford. She attended his Wanaka Autumn School where she learnt to shoot for magizines and books. There has been many other proffessional photograhers that have given training and guidance along the way. All of this followed her education at Canterbury University.

Alongside Cynthia's artworks she also specializes in Commercial photography involving company marking, brochures, posters, magazines, web sites and family portraits.

To help support learning business skills Cynthia has attended several BIZ courses such as; E-Commerce for Business: Selling your Business on the Global Market; Small Office/Home Office: Effective Advertising; Customer Services
